Where are we going?
Announcement of future action

We’d like you to share our journey

You may have noticed that Peregian Family & Friends has been running some info-graphs on our social media channels?  Maybe you don’t use social media?

We understand that many people still prefer to gather information from direct emails, newspapers and browsing at leisure through a website.  This email reflects what’s been going on in our social media world.

Firstly, we’d like to introduce you to our 2024 committee

L-R Cheryl Newsom (Marcus Beach), Mike Goss (Treasurer – Peregian Springs), Bob Joubert (Peregian Springs), Penny Casey (Peregian Beach) Michael Spicer (Secretary – Peregian Springs), Graham Reid (President – Peregian Beach)

Our History

Peregian Family & Friends (PFAF) is a non-for-profit community organisation, founded in 2017 by Leigh McCready.  Initially focused on reviving a locally run and sustainable Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club (PBSLSC) and Nippers Club, the Peregian Springs Residents Association joined us in 2018.

Our amalgamation created a ‘cross border’ group, representing the interdependent communities of Peregian Beach, Peregian Breeze, Peregian Springs, and Marcus Beach.

Members and interested residents and businesses also come from neighbouring areas in both the Noosa Council and Sunshine Coast Council regions.

Peregian Family & Friends advocates for various local projects, maintaining close ties to government representatives at the Local, State and Federal levels as well as other like-minded community organisations and departmental agencies. Our mission is to address lifestyle and infrastructure issues impacting all the Peregian communities – regardless of electoral boundaries.

Over the past six years, Peregian Family & Friends has continued to drive community support for the PBSLSC which gained its new Incorporation in 2022.  The Peregian Beach Nippers programme, established in 2018, now boasts some 200 members.

We’re very proud  of our contribution to their success stories.

Our Achievements

Since the 2019 fires, we have held an annual Spirit of Peregian gala fundraiser in honour of our first responders.

As a result of these fundraisers:

  • We have donated some $56,000 to the Rural Fire Services in our area.
  • $80,000 went to the PBSLSC Building Fund in 2022 and a further $18,000 has been contributed to PBSLSC operations.
  • We sponsored the Peregian Beach Nippers colour run in 2022 and
  • Katie Rose Cottage was the recipient of $18,500 from our 2023 Long Lunch

In 2021 we acquired the permit & limited funding from Noosa Council to run the annual Peregian Beach Carols.  The largest Carols event on the Coast has been a huge success with help from both the Peregian Beach Business Association and more recently, the new Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

Funding

Apart from our own efforts with fundraising, we have been fortunate to receive monies from other sources.

For example:
Noosa Council $1000 for website development and $11,791 over three years toward the Carols
SCRC $1000 for website development, $1342 for a branded Marquee and $500 for discretionary expenses.

Coolum Surf Club $1000 of gift vouchers to raffle

A very generous $25,000 anonymous donation toward our fundraising efforts at the 2023 Long Lunch and a total of $10,800 in various donations toward fundraising

Emerald Pixel has been generous and patient in supporting us through various IT issues.
