Peregian Family and Friends Inc. ensure effective processes and services are in place and that we act in the interest of our members and community.

Clarification of Scope of Advocacy for Peregian Family and Friends
Mission Statement
The Mission of Peregian Family and Friends is “To enhance the liveability of the wider Peregian communities through advocacy and support for activities that champion better social, economic and environmental outcomes.”
Proposal to define our advocacy role going forward:
PFFA will advocate for directly relevant issues of concern to the greater Peregian community in the areas of:
- Our unique local environment (e.g., protection of trees on the beachfront and dune vegetation, reduction in beach erosion)
- Safety (roads, property, person)
- Public spaces (maintenance and improvement)
- By-law enforcement and enhancement
- Prudent use of public funds
- Public Facilities
Action Plan
- On our social media, provide links and promote the use of:
- Councils’ Service Request apps to have the Community engage directly with the appropriate Council
- Councils’ feedback apps for residents (“Have Your Say” Sunshine Coast Council, “Your Say” Noosa Council)The Emergency Plus app (Federal) and Queensland SES app
- The Emergency Plus app (Federal) and Queensland SES app
- The Queensland Police Service’s Crime Stats Map
- Via our social media, distribute relevant sections of the OSCAR newsletter (and maybe also that of Development Watch) for issues and information that meet the advocacy criteria
- Change OSCAR Newsletter distribution from Secretary to Editor to ease publication of relevant information.
Background
To advocate to the two local Councils, and to the State and Federal Governments, we have in the past built good relationships with the following representatives:
- Noosa Council: Mayor Frank Wilkie. Cr Amelia Lorentsen, Cr Brian Stockwell
- Sunshine Coast Council: Cr. Maria Suarez
- State Government: Noosa MP Sandy Bolton, Ninderry MP Dan Purdie
- Federal Government: Fairfax MP Ted O’Brien, Wide Bay MP Llew O’Brien
Thereby achieving good outcomes, including:
- Invitations to speak at Community Forums and Events (e.g. Carols)
- Successful applications for grants
- Requests for action on behalf of Peregian residents
